A lesson has been taught today by Ireland to all those countries (Italy included) that feared democracy and voting on the subject of the Fiscal Pact, a step which I strongly believe, personally, to represent a serious mistake in terms of economic policy.
The Pact has has been approved by the Irish people. Hail to Ireland. It might have done just about the only thing in these last few months that has truly helped pushing forward Europe and saving the euro: allowing participated democracy to be resuscitated, even if for so brief a moment. Hail to the Irish people.
